Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service for authorized members of the Saint Vincent community to request library materials not available at the Dale P. Latimer Library.
If the Library does not have access to an item, interlibrary loan will locate it at another library and will attempt to borrow it for you.
ILL is available to currently enrolled students, seminarians, faculty, staff, and members of the monastery. You must have a valid Saint Vincent College ID to utilize Interlibrary Loan. ILL is not available to Guest Borrowers.
There is a nominal $1.50 charge per request. As a student, the first 15 requests per academic year are free to you. Faculty members who request items related to their position at SVC will have the costs covered by their department.
Books, book chapters, journal, or magazine articles may be requested.
Please be aware that the following types of ILL requests will typically not be processed: materials already owned by the Dale P. Latimer Library, entire periodicals, reference books, textbooks, recently published books, eBooks, and other difficult to obtain items.
Requests can be made by using the “Request through ILL” link in EBSCO, by visiting the Circulation Desk during Library hours, or by completing the ILL request forms (book or copy) on this page.
You will be notified by your SVC e-mail address when your material arrives.
Books may be picked up at the Circulation Desk during Library hours with your Saint Vincent ID card.
Copy requests will be electronically delivered via Saint Vincent e-mail.
The library lending the item will set the due date of the ILL items.
The average loan period is approximately 2-3 weeks.
Renewals must be submitted before the due date for approval. ILL items cannot be renewed through your Library account. To renew ILL items please submit a renewal request to ILL@stvincent@edu before the due date.

The Dale P. Latimer Library is part of reciprocal resource sharing groups including LVIS, LONG, LLLL, ATUG, and FILM that allow for the borrowing and lending of library materials at reduced or no cost. Whenever possible, requested materials will be obtained through these reciprocal resource sharing groups to reduce the cost of borrowing. However, there may be times an item is not available through a reciprocal resource lender and a cost would be associated with the ILL request. If this situation occurs, you will be contacted to approve any costs associated with the ILL request prior to the request being processed.
The turnaround time for ILL varies greatly depending on the item’s availability. The lending library determines the loan period (due date) of ILL materials. Depending upon the availability and location of the lender, books are estimated to take 2 weeks to arrive, while articles can take a few days to arrive.
