Dale P. Latimer Library for FACULTY

Course Reserves

Course Reserves is a library service where faculty members can place materials in a central location (the Circulation Desk) so that all students within a course can access it for that semester.

A Course Reserve form must be completed when placing items on Reserve.

What can I place on Course Reserves?

Any circulating item within the collection.

Reference Books, Periodicals, Permanent Reserves, Rare Books, and Microfilm CANNOT be placed on Reserve. These items do not circulate and are therefore always available in the Library.

Books, article photocopies, DVDs, and any other material that belongs to the course professor.

*Please indicate somewhere within the item that it belongs to you

The library is not responsible for the loss, damage, or theft of personal items placed on Reserve.

Faculty can visit the Library, pull the needed items from the stacks, and take them to the Circulation desk to fill out a Course Reserve.

Faculty can fill out a Course Reserve Material Form online. (This form is also found below). On this online form, faculty will indicate what Library item they want on Reserve. Once received, Library Staff will pull the book and place them on Reserve for your course.

Faculty should bring the personal item to the Circulation Desk and fill out a course reserve form in person.

Forms can also be filled out in advance, using the PDF form below, and brought to the Circulation Desk with the personal items.

*Please bring items prior to the start of the semester, so that items are ready for your students. Any items brought after the start of a semester may, due to other staff responsibilities, take up to 4 days to be processed and available for student use.*

*Due to space constraints, Course Reserves are only active for the semester in which they are taught. Course Reserves are removed at the end of each semester, and during the last week of classes, Faculty will be notified about the removal of reserve items by e-mail.*
