Searching the Catalog

Search for physical items from anywhere by one of the following methods:

  1. Using the search box above
  2. Using the search box on the Library Home Page
  3. Using the search box under Library Resources > Books/Circulation

These methods will allow you to search for physical items that are held within the Dale P. Latimer Library collection.

If you are on campus without a device, you can also use one of the two (2) online public access catalogs (OPACs) near the Circulation Desk. These OPACs are only available during Library Services Hours.

Checking Out Materials

Check out books and other library materials at the Circulation Desk located on the Mezzanine Level.

You must have your SVC ID card to borrow items, including reserve materials.

  • For Faculty, books are checked out for the entire semester.
  • DVDs are checked out for 7 days
  • Periodicals and Reference materials do not circulate. They must be used within the Circulation Desk Area
  • Renew your items online by clicking "Access Your Account" on the Main Page
    • Click My Loans and then Renew
      • You must renew each item one at a time. The system does not permit batch renewals.

Tips for Searching

When searching for books in the catalog, if your search yields no results, use these helpful hints:

  • Switch the keywords that you are using
  • Try different combinations of keywords
  • If searching for an author, use their last name first
  • Once the search results show, use the limiters on the left hand side

Once you find a book, you can write down the call number and come to the library stacks to retrieve it yourself.

You can also click the Place Request Button button. This will place a request for the item. Library staff will retrieve it from the stacks, and you will receive an e-mail when it is ready to be picked up at the Circulation Desk.
